Toll hikes kick in for Aberdeen & Shing Mun Tunnels

Tolls for the Aberdeen Tunnel and Shing Mun Tunnels have been increased to 8 dollars, starting today.
All vehicle types will be charged a flat rate of 8 dollars throughout the day, up from 5 dollars.
The Transport Department expects the impact of the new tolls on traffic to be minimal, and tunnel operations will be able to roughly break even.
Starting next Sunday, the maximum fees for metered parking spaces will be adjusted from 2 dollars to 4 dollars every 15 minutes -- meaning they charge a maximum of 16 dollars per hour.
The fees for metered parking spaces for goods vehicles, buses and coaches, meanwhile, will remain unchanged.
