One dead after shooting at New Hampshire wedding

One person is dead and several others were injured after a gunman, who shouted "Free Palestine", opened fire on a wedding party at a New Hampshire country club.

Attorney General John Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke said the person who died at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua was an adult male. 

The male suspect was detained at the scene. 

Five or six shots were said to have been fired fired by a "crazed gunman" who was stopped when someone hit him over the head with a chair.

Guests had gathered on the dance floor when the shooting started.

Those caught up in the shooting were forced to run or lock themselves in a nearby room.

Sophie Flabouris, a teacher from Massachusetts, said it was the "scariest moment of her life."

Aerial video from WMUR-TV showed multiple emergency responders heading to the scene. 

U.S. Rep. Maggie Goodlander said in a statement that she was "closely monitoring the tragic reports of a shooting tonight at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua" and that her heart was with the victims, their families and the entire community. 

Nashua is about 45 miles (70 kilometres) northwest of Boston, just across the Massachusetts border.
