6,000 people have to be evacuated before wartime bomb-like device disposal operation

A suspected wartime bomb was found at a construction site in Quarry Bay.
Some 6,000 people from 18 buildings in the vicinity had to be evacuated by 11 p.m. tonight.
At 2 a.m. tomorrow, the police will start handling the device throughout the night.
The MTR said train services along Island Line and Tseung Kwan O Line may be affected tomorrow, adding that an early announcement will be made before the first train.
The 1.3-metre-long wartime bomb-like device was unearthed at a site between King's Road and Pan Hoi Street.
Residents of Sunway Gardens, a private estate in the affected area, were evacuated in an orderly fashion.
Care team volunteers helped the procedure, and transported the residents to a nearby community hall.
The police said the device was confirmed to have been dropped on the city from the air during the Second World War. The force believes the device remains in good condition and could be dangerous.
