Memorial services were held across the mainland to mark the 94th anniversary of the 918 Incident.

At the 918 Historical Museum in Shenyang, about 1,000 representatives from different sectors attended a bell-ringing memorial service.

The bell was tolled 14 times, symbolising the 14 years of war against Japanese aggression. The air raid siren in Shenyang and other cities in Liaoning Province went off simultaneously at 9:18 a.m.

Another memorial service was held in Nanjing at 8:30 a.m. Mourners sang the national anthem and laid flowers to pay tribute to the war dead.

On September 18th, 1931, Japanese forces blew up the South Manchuria Railway in China and subsequently invaded three northeastern provinces, launching a war of aggression against China.
