5 police officers shot, three fatally, in Pennsylvania; suspect killed

In the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, three police officers were shot dead and two others critically wounded in a confrontation with a gunman who was fatally shot by police.
The shooting unfolded in a York County community about 180 kilometres west of Philadelphia when the officers returned to the scene of an investigation from the previous day.
Police said the investigation was domestic-related. Three officers died and two were injured after being struck by gunfire.
One local media outlet reported the officers were attempting to serve a search warrant when the shooting started. Authorities declined to immediately reveal the name of the suspect.
