Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been discharged from the hospital he had been admitted a day earlier due to vomiting, dizziness and low blood pressure.

Doctors say Bolsonaro's health has improved but he will continue to receive follow-up care. The former president had already been to the hospital last Sunday to have skin lesions removed.

Tests found the presence of squamous cell carcinoma and doctors say two of the lesions were an early type of skin cancer.

The lesions have already been removed but regular monitoring is required to ensure no new lesions appear.

This as a panel of Supreme Court justices last Thursday found the ex-leader guilty of attempting a coup to illegally hang onto power despite his 2022 electoral defeat to current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

They sentenced him to 27 years and three months in prison. Bolsonaro does not immediately go to prison as the court has up to 60 days to publish the ruling.

His lawyers then have five days to file motions for clarification. Bolsonaro has denied wrongdoing.
