The city's latest unemployment rate remains at 3.7 percent in the June-to-August period -- same as the preceding May-to-July period.
The labour force increased by more than 15,000 to about 3.83 million.
The total employment figures rose by 9,300 while about 6,000 more people went jobless.
Industries with rising unemployment rates are the catering service and manufacturing sectors.
Construction, professional and business services industries, meanwhile, recorded declines.
Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun says that while the business situation of certain sectors continues to weigh on employment, steady growth of the Hong Kong economy and the government's measures to boost economic momentum will provide support to the overall labour demand.
