The Taliban government said it discussed normalising relations between Afghanistan and the United States in a meeting with senior U.S. administration officials in Kabul.

President Donald Trump's special envoy for hostage response, Adam Boehler, met with Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Taliban's deputy economics chief.

Akhund urged the U.S. to move "from confrontation to constructive engagement" and to "invest across multiple sectors."

A Taliban statement said comprehensive discussions were held on ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, issues related to citizens, and investment opportunities in Afghanistan.
