Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday said China is willing to work with European countries on economic and political development.

Wang has arrived in Slovenia to meet with the country's president and foreign minister.

Wang Yi met with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar in the capital Ljubljana. During the meeting, Musar noted that Slovenia had voted down the European Union's proposal on raising tax on Chinese electric cars.

"Economic cooperation always brings wealth to the country and social welfare, so that's synergy, it goes hand-in-hand," said Musar.

Wang said China-Slovenia relations serve as a model of mutual respect and stressed that the two countries are partners.

Wang also met with Slovenian deputy prime minister, also the country's Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon.

Speaking on the Taiwan question, Wang said he trusts Slovenia will adhere to the One-China principle, supporting China in opposing Taiwan secession activities.

Wang and Fajon later met with the press. Wang said China is willing to enhance collaboration with Slovenia and the Europe.

Meanwhile, Fajon said Slovenia hopes to enhance economic and trade collaboration with China.
