London police officers injured as up to 150,000 join anti-migrant march

Twenty-six police officers were injured and 25 people were arrested as a "Unite the Kingdom" demonstration in London turned violent.

Up to 150,000 joined activist Tommy Robinson who appeared on a stage speaking with Elon Musk about immigration failures and the right to free speech.

Opposition demonstrations, which portrayed themselves as anti-fascist,also marched in London to counter Robinson's rally, creating a tense atmosphere on the streets of the British capital.

The left and right of Britain almost side by side in London.

Police keeping the opposing views apart as at one point the two groups converged.

Tensions boiled, bottles were thrown, dozens of officers were injured, four seriously.

UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood says any person who carried out acts of violence will face the full force of the law.

The right marching through central London, past the Houses of Parliament,waving the Union Jack and the Cross of St George.

They say their country is losing its identity with immigration out of control.

The "Unite the Kingdom" rally,organised by far-right activist Tommy Robinson,attracted around 150,000.

His supporters converging on the capital from around the country with throngs of people stretching through several streets.

One member of the march, Chris, who id not give his surname says :"Illegal immigration is out of control. And we're losing, losing our voice, you know what I mean? Freedom of speech, I feel, is being eroded."

The left of centre governing Labour Party has frequently come under pressure for not doing enough to stop small boats crossing the English Channel.

The founder of the English Defence League,known for his anti-islam views, addressed his followers from a stage.

Robinson invited the world's richest man Elon Musk to speak via video link

Musk told Robinson and the thousands listening that it's in the left's interests to allow more migrants to enter the country

"Frankly, there is a massive incentive on the left to import voters. If they can't convince their nation to vote for them, they are going to import people from other nations to vote for them.This is a massive factor and frankly it is a strategy that will succeed if it is not stopped," Musk told RObinson and those i London.

"Thus far, it is succeeding and you see strong movements to allow people who are not from Britain to vote in Britain."

The "Stand up to Racism" counter-rally was no less vocal but attracted a fraction of the numbers of the demonstratio nwhich they were arguing against.

Around 5,000 demonstrators turned up, angry over what they called fascists on the streets of London.
