Shortened screws found in Siu Lam's light public housing project

The government said screws were found to be cut from light public housing in Siu Lam.
Siu Lam's light public housing project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of next year, providing a total of 4,200 units.
The project is handled by Able-Chun Wo Joint Venture.
During an inspection last month, the Architectural Services Department spotted 23 shortened screws.
The screws were used to connect base plates and core walls on the fourth and fifth floors.
The department said the safety of the overall construction was not at risk.
After an initial investigation, authorities said the work was performed by subcontractor workers and they had subsequently been fired by the contractor.
