The sniper who killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk is still on the loose even as investigators have flooded the internet with photos and video of a man believed to have carried out Wednesday's killing at a Utah university.
Investigators have obtained clues including a palm print and shoe impression but have yet to name the suspect or motive in the killing.
Tracey Furniss reports.
Newly released CCTV footage shows a person suspected of shooting and killing conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, climbing down from a roof and running into the street.
Two close up stills too were shown of the shooter looking down, as if masking his face.
At a briefing Utah Governor Spencer Cox said they had received thousands of leads and tips from the public after showing the images.
Utah's Governor Spencer Cox said:"We cannot do our job without the public's help right now. The public has answered our call for action so far. We've received more than 7,000 leads and tips."
Meanwhile Air Force Two carried Kirk's body back to Phoenix, Arizona accompanied by Vice President J.D. Vance who was a friend of Kirk. A group of uniformed servicemen carried Kirk's casket off the plane.
Second Lady Usha Vance stepped off Air Force Two with Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika. Both women wore black and sunglasses. The vice president a few steps behind them.
Meanwhile more witnesses of the killing have spoken up. Henry Dells was one of the last people to talk to Kirk.
Eyewitness Henry Dells said: "Basically I came up, I told him that Charlie, 'I love you. We agree on a lot of things, but I found something that I know we disagree on. We then went into a whole bunch of stuff. It was less than a minute after we'd got done talking. I heard a crack. Sounded like a fire cracker, looked to my right, saw Charlie, and saw a whole bunch of blood just gushing out of his neck. I could tell from when I saw it, he wasn't going to make it. I thought it was very, very weird. When I showed up to the campus, there was no security at all."
A vigil was held overnight in Utah mourners placing flowers and candles at a makeshift memorial.
This as investigators appealed for the public's help in finding the person who assassinated Kirk, offering a 100,000 U.S. dollar reward.
Authorities also say they are getting everything in order to pursue the death penalty for the perpetrator.
