Full implementation of the Well-off Tenants Policy by 2026

The government announced that a full implementation of the Well-off Tenants Policy will be completed by the end of 2026.
The first batch of tenants will receive the new tenancy agreements containing the policy clauses next week.
Authorities will gradually replace the tenancy agreements of about 25,000 residents who are not regulated by the policy.
For the first phase, the policy will cover tenancy agreements commencing between September 1st, 1964 and February 16th, 1986. Tenants who accept the new tenancy agreement will require to continue to pay rent as usual.
Once payment is confirmed, the Hong Kong Housing Authority will issue an acknowledgment letter to the tenant, and the new tenancy agreement will take effect after termination of the old one.
