Premiers of China and Portugal hold talks in Beijing

Premier Li Qiang has held talks with Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro in Beijing.

Both sides pledged to enhance cooperation and work together to safeguard free trade.

A welcoming ceremony took place at the Great Hall of the People for Montenegro who is on an official visit to China.

The Portuguese prime minister inspected an honour guard.

The Chinese premier then held talks with the visitor. Li Qiang said this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Portugal comprehensive strategic partnership, which presents new opportunities for the growth of bilateral relations and cooperation.

Li noted that China is ready to import more high-quality agricultural and food products from Portugal and encourages more Chinese enterprises to invest in Portugal.
