Israel bombs Qatar as it targets Hamas leaders

Israel launched a strike on Qatar targeting Hamas' leadership who reside in the country.

The current whereabouts of those Israel tried to assassinate are unknown.

Qatar, along with Egypt and the U.S., are acting as mediators between Hamas and Israel in a bid to end the Gaza war.

The Qatari foreign ministry called the strike "a cowardly attack."

Explosions rocked the Qatari capital, Doha.

Smoke was seen coming from a building, in what, has been described locally, as a residential area.

A larger area has been cordoned off.

Israel confirmed the airstrike and took full responsibility for it.

Israel widens its campaign by attacking Hamas leaders outside of Gaza.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Hamas leaders are directly responsible for the October 7th attacks.

Qatar condemned the attack on their soil calling it a "blatant violation of international law.

The U.S. has its largest military base in the Middle East in the small Gulf country of Qatar and was notified before the attack which Israel said it did independently.
