President Xi congratulates North Korea on 77th anniversary of country's founding

President Xi Jinping has offered congratulations on the 77th anniversary of the founding of North Korea in a message to the country's supremo Kim Jong Un.
Kim landed in Beijing last week to attend events commemorating the anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Xi said in his congratulatory message that he met Kim again to jointly draw a blueprint for the development of bilateral relations.
He added that the two countries are traditional friendly neighbours linked by mountains and rivers, and that it has always been China's steadfast plan to maintain and consolidate ties with North Korea.
Xi further noted Beijing is ready to enhance cooperation with Pyongyang to make greater contributions to peace and development in the region and the world at large.
