The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland announced its "World Talent Ranking 2025," with Hong Kong's ranking rising from 9th last year to 4th.

The ranking is based on three factors, and Hong Kong's performance in all three areas improving for the second consecutive year - "Appeal" climbed 8 places to 20th, while "Readiness" and "Investment and Development" ranked 3rd and 12th, respectively.

Hong Kong ranked first in Asia and second only to Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Iceland globally.

The HKSAR government responded that it will continue to optimise the manpower needs of Hong Kong in line with its eight strategic centers.

As of the end of August this year, various talent admission schemes had received over 520,000 applications, and over 230,000 talent had arrived in Hong Kong through these schemes.

Speaking at an event today, Chief Executive John Lee said he hopes that the improved ranking would help Hong Kong become an international innovation and technology hub.
