West Kowloon Cultural District Authority said the district recorded more than 15 million visits last year.

Chairman Henry Tang said the figure marks a "phasal achievement" in the district's development.

Speaking at a Legislative Council meeting, Tang said the M+ Museum welcomed over 2.6 million visitors last year, while the Palace Museum attracted over one million visits.

Chief Executive Officer Lydia Fung said that the district is projected to face an operating deficit of 770 million dollars for the 24/25 financial year, a rise of about 35 percent compared with the year before.

But she expects new commercial spaces within the complex's affiliated plaza tower, set for completion by the end of next year, to generate stable rental income to help offset operational losses of cultural facilities.
