In Nigeria Boko Haram militants have killed dozens of people in a nighttime assault on a village in the northeastern region of the country.
The militants attacked homes of residents who had recently returned from a camp for internally displaced people.
Borno's state Governor visited the attacked community late Saturday evening where reportedly 60 people died during an attack.
He said that the "numerical strength of the Nigerian army is not enough to contain the situation."
He added, authorities have started training forest guards and hopes to deploy them soon.
The conflict has spilled into Nigeria's northern neighbours including Niger resulting in the death of around 35,000 civilians and the displacement of more than 2 million others, according to the United Nations.
