The No.8 Gale or Storm Signal is in force, but it will be lowered to the Strong Wind Signal number 3 signal at 1.10 p.m.

At 9 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Tapah was centred about 170 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong.

Tapah has made landfall over Taishan. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour across inland Guangdong.
