The observatory is considering issuing the Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 between 9 p.m. and midnight tonight as Tropical Storm Tapah moves north-nothwest steadily. According to the present forecast track, it will intensify further and edge closer to the coast of western Guangdong and will skirt within 200 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong tomorrow morning.
