British police scuffled with protesters outside Parliament and arrested hundreds of demonstrators who defied a ban on the group Palestine Action.
Police say they were "kicked and spat at" as they tried to make arrests, with UK media saying more than 400 were detained.
The group has been banned by the UK Government and placed on a list of terrorist organisations after activists broke into a Royal Air Force base and vandalised planes earlier this summer.
Between one and two thousand demonstrators gathered in central London to show their support for the people of Gaza and denounce their government's criminalisation of the group.
Within minutes, police began arresting the demonstrators, as bystanders chanted "Shame on you" and "Met Police, pick a side, justice or genocide."
Many demonstrators did not struggle as they were dragged away with their bodies going limp in silent protest.
Others resisted and fights broke out with some arrested on assault charges.
The Metropolitan Police reminded Londoners: Expressing support for a proscribed organisation is a criminal offence under the Terrorism Act. Where our officers see offences, we will make arrests.
It was a slow process, with officers arresting demonstrators over several hours although hundreds of other demonstrators remained sitting in the square.
