No. 3 signal in force as Tapah continues to intensify

Tropical Storm Tapah started to track north-northwestwards in the past couple of hours and local winds will strengthen progressively. The Strong Wind Signal No. 3 will remain in force during the most of the daytime.

According to the present forecast, Tapah will skirt around 200 kilometres to the southwest of Hong Kong tomorrow morning. The observatory will assess the need for issuing higher tropical cyclone warning signals tonight based on Tapah's rate of intensificationg and its closest distance to Hong Kong.
