If transit travellers want to see more of Hong Kong than just the International Airport they now have an option to make the most of their layover in our city.
Starting Friday, passengers transiting Hong Kong for more than seven hours can join a local tour for free.
As an international aviation hub, the Hong Kong airport welcomes 50,000 transit passengers every day.
At least 10,000 of them stop for over seven hours.
The Airport Authority has teamed up with a travel platform to offer quick four-hour tours for commuters with layovers exceeding seven hours.
Two routes are available -- one tours the West Kowloon Cultural District and Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui, while the other travels to Pei Ho Street Market in Sham Shui Po and Wong Tai Sin Temple.
Participants will be transferred by shuttle buses from the airport to the attractions, and each tour will be led by an English speaking tour guide.
A tour can accommodate up to 20 people.
Zhang Cheng-ji, Head of Commercial Operation, Marketing, Trip.com Group, said: "When you are booking your flights, there are options of having a transit in Hong Kong for more than seven hours, our platform will push you a notification."
Say "hey, we realise you are transiting in Hong Kong. Do you want to do this? Do you want to join us?"
A third route, exploring Lantau Island and Sunny Bay is scheduled to roll out in December.
