UN warns death toll from Sunday's Afghanistan earthquake will rise further

The United Nations has warned of an exponential rise in casualties from a major earthquake in eastern Afghanistan late Sunday night.
The Taliban say the death toll has passed 1,400 with more than 3,000 injured.The figures provided by the Taliban government were just for the province of Kunar.
The magnitude 6 quake struck several provinces causing extensive damage. It flattened villages and trapped people under the rubble of homes.
Aid agency Save the Children says one of its teams walked more than 19 kilometres, carrying medical equipment on their backs to reach villages cut off by fallen rocks.
An magnitude 5.2 aftershock close to the epicentre of Sunday's quake rattled the area on Tuesday.
Dozens of commando forces personnel were being airdropped at sites where helicopters can't land to help carry the injured to safer ground.
