HK reports one new imported chikungunya fever case

Hong Kong reports one new imported chikungunya fever case, bringing the total tally of chikungunya cases this year to 13.

The Centre for Health Protection says that the 27-year-old patient lives on Tai Po Road in Sham Shui Po. She travelled to Foshan from August 15th to 17th, and developed fever and rash on Sunday.

She sought medical treatment at the Accident and Emergency Department of Caritas Medical Centre on Thursday and was admitted to hospital. She is currently in stable condition. Her blood sample has tested chikungunya-positive.

She had no companions during the trip. Her two household contacts have so far displayed no relevant symptoms and are under medical surveillance.
