Appeals court says Trump's tariffs are illegal use of emergency powers

A U.S. Appeals court has ruled President Donald Trump has no legal right to impose trade tariffs.

The levies have been left in place for now, pending Trump's appeal to the Supreme Court.

The court found Trump was not legally allowed to declare national emergencies and impose import duties, largely upholding a decision by a specialised federal trade court.
