An off-duty Hong Kong police officer sought help from Cambodia. Sources say someone suspected they had been kidnapped and taken to a Cambodian scam compound.
The government said the police force had confirmed that the off-duty officer was in Cambodia.

The officer was released after his warrant card was discovered.
Between 2024 and Friday, Hong Kong authorities have received 29 cases related to locals being abducted in South East Asian countries.
Twenty-six people have returned to the city, while two required no further assistance.
