Hong Kong Green Week will take place from September 8 to 12.

The event offers a platform for stakeholders worldwide to engage and explore potential opportunities in green and sustainable finance.

This as InvestHK and the Hong Kong Green Finance Association announced their collaboration promoting green and sustainable finance.

The development of green industries is a major international trend that addresses global climate change, and Hong Kong is no exception to this trend.

Hong Kong Green Week will kick off on September 8.

The five-day-long event will feature the city's policy roadmap, regulatory framework and commitment to international collaboration.

In the meantime, InvestHK and Hong Kong Green Finance Association, or HKGFA will help facilitate cross-sector partnerships, to achieve sustainability goals.

After U.S. President Donald Trump signed the order to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, Chairman and President of HKGFA Ma Jun believes it is time for Hong Kong to demostrate its pivotal role in Asia's low-carbon transition.

Speaking of the tensions between China and the U.S., Ma said some of the Chinese enterprises have relocated their production line to other countries.

He suggested that both China and the U.S. could try to engage third parties in doing green financing projects.

Ma Jun, Chairman and President of HKGFA said, "China has a lot of technologies, the U.S. has a lot of money and of course it has some technology expertises as well. Can we jointly do something to help Africa, Latin America and ASEAN? That is one area I think is underexplored and will provide a lot of opportunites."

The Hong Kong Green Finance Association said it will continue to work alongside its members and partners globally to bridge global sustainability standards.
