Police rounded up ten men and three women, some with triad backgrounds, aged 25 to 65, in connection with Monday's murder case in Tin Shui Wai.

Some other suspects are believed to have fled overseas.

It's believed the killing was linked to disputes over illicit cigarette profits.

Police were called early on Monday after a 51-year-old man was found dead beneath a bridge next to a blood-stained seven-seater private car in Hung Shui Kiu.

Police say CCTV footage showed the victim leaving his nearby residence in the car at around 1 a.m. before he was intercepted by two other private cars and was confronted by about ten men.

Two brandished knives at him then the victim was slashed on the head from behind.

A forensic examiner says the knife ruptured blood vessels in the head and face.

Police add that a male relative of the victim was also abducted from the victim's home before the killing but later managed to escape his restraints.
