The inaugural AI Global Talents Connect was held at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Centre today.

The event is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Investment Corporation and the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan attended the event. In his opening speech, Chan noted that Hong Kong, as a base for many international companies, attracts talent from around the world, and allows for the free flow of capital and information, making it an advantageous place for the development of artificial intelligence.

Chan said Hong Kong has prioritised AI as a core industry for future development, a key enabler to upgrading its traditional industries and sectors.

"I'm pleased to note a further milestone: the Qingyuan Club, one of the BAAI's most important interdisciplinary initiatives, is being brought to Hong Kong with the support of the Hong Kong Investment Corporation." Chan said.

The Beijing Qingyuan Club gathered many of China's top AI scientists, including leading contributors in large language models and embodied intelligence.

The AI Global Talents Connect brings together some of the world's leading figures in artificial intelligence - researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs and thought leaders.

Themed "Openness, Vitality, and Innovation," the event is focused on technological development, industrial practices, and ecosystem development, while establishing a high-end platform for the exchange of talent, technology, and capital.
