Govt responds to allegations of changed tender rules over drinking water saga

The latest on the fraud allegations involving bottled drinking water supplied to the government.

It's reported that tender rules for the water contract have been revised. 

Instead of the original scoring system, new terms required only bidders to demonstrate their ability to produce and deliver the items after winning the tender.

The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau says the government has prioritised quality to ensure that the purchased goods reflect value-for-money with public funds used appropriately.

FSTB says every time a government department conducts a procurement, it will assess the tendering requirements and assessment methods in the light of factors, including the nature of the goods and the technical differences in the goods' production in the market.
