U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance says India is facing secondary U.S. tariffs because of its purchases of Russian oil, but there's no increase in tariffs for China.

The U.S. vice president talking on NBC's Meet the Press said that China faces a 54 percent tariff on its exports to America, which is already hefty.

He added the U.S. has had a number of conversations with China to be better partners in bringing the Russia-Ukraine war to a close.

"We are applying aggressive economic pressure to bring this war to a close," Vance said, adding that if the U.S. feels progress is being made, they will dial the pressure down.
