Israeli forces continue their push to take control of Gaza City, with reports that dozens of Palestinians have been killed over the weekend.

Some of the dead were said to have been sheltering in tents or seeking scarce food.

This has prompted further international condemnation with Pro-Palestinian demonstrations across Australia attracting hundreds of thousands.

Day and night, Israel's army continue their mission to hunt down Hamas and take Gaza City.

The 401st brigade said to to be in Jabaliya just to the north of Israel's main target.

The Israel Defence Forces say its troops have "returned to combat" and released this video.

Israel's defence minister warns Gaza City could be destroyed unless Hamas yields to his country's terms.

Israel Katz posted that "The gates of hell will open on Hamas" in Gaza until they agree to Israel's conditions."

Hamas called Katz's comments "a confession amounting to ethnic cleansing."

The bombardment also continues to the south and from the air.

This time-lapse shot from the border overnight shows large explosions as Israeli strikes and gunfire killed at least 33 Palestinians over the weekend. Some medical sources put the number at more than 60.

This, as much of the world condemns the "man-made" famine in Gaza. Karam Akoumeh, already wounded, has seen his body weight halved during the war.

His weighs less than 40 kilos. His gunshot wounds mean he has to be fed by a syringe administered by his father.

Thas was at the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City earlier this week -- a week in which a U.N. panel officially declared famine in Gaza.

Medics say there are at least 20 malnourished patients like Karam in this recovery ward amid reports that some of the doctors themselves are fainting from hunger.

Scenes like that causing outrage.

Thousands marching in Melbourne in Australia. They accuse Israel of genocide against Palestinians.

"We are the ones standing against a genocide," said protester Remah Naji. "Not in our name! Not in our name!"

Three hundred thousand people are estimated to have attended demonstrations in more then 40 locations across Australia, which has said it will recognise a Palestinian state at the U.N. General Assembly next month.

Continued protests within Israel too. The white lights of mobile phone torches held up by hundreds as protesters called for peace.

They oppose the Israeli government's decision to take control of Gaza City and expand the war.

"Expanding the fighting only puts them and all the hostages in greater danger," said Lirab Berman, brother of hostages Gali and Ziv. "Today, there is a deal on the table, but deals do not last forever. Windows close fast and hard as we have seen too many times."

Israel demands the release of all hostages and Hamas' complete disarmament.

The militant group says it will release those held captive in exchange for ending the war, but it rejects laying down its arms without the creation of a Palestinian state.
