Staying in the UK, the planning application for China's new embassy compound in London has been postponed. Beijing voices "strong concern" towards the delay.

A spokesperson from the Chinese Embassy says the plan is a "high-quality" proposal that has received recognition from professional bodies and the application followed both international diplomatic norms and local rules.

The spokesperson said providing support and facilitation for diplomatic premises is the host country's international obligation as it urges the UK to fulfil its duties.

Reports suggest the UK extended the review deadline until October because Beijing refused to disclose details of certain blacked-out sections in the blueprints.

China argued that the level of detail already submitted met established requirements and that handing over full internal layouts was "unnecessary and inappropriate."
