In the past few hours, Kajiki moved westwards steadily and intensified gradually. Its strong winds are still at a distance from the coast of Guangdong. The Standby Signal, No. 1 will remain in force at least until 5 p.m. today.
Kajiki is expected to skirt around 500 kilometres or more to the south of Hong Kong tonight and tomorrow morning. Winds will be occasionally strong over the southern part of the territory and the adjacent waters by then. The Observatory will closely monitor the changes in local winds.
Locally, it will still be mainly fine and very hot in the afternoon today. With the outer rainbands associated with Kajiki edging closer to the coast of Guangdong gradually, it is expected to become cloudy with a few showers and squally thunderstorms later. There will be swells. It will be windier with occasional squally showers tomorrow.
