The Philippines said more than 10 Chinese vessels were sailing close to a Filipino warship stranded at the Second Thomas Shoal, or Ren'ai Jiao in the South China Sea.
The Chinese coast guard urged the Philippines to immediately stop all infringement activities, provocations and false accusations.
A video released by the Philippine's military showed a rubber dinghy crewed by its personnel, trying to stop a Chinese boat from approaching.
Manila said the Chinese coast guard deployed at least 14 ships near the grounded Filipino warship in the past two days.
They asserted some were armed, and one of the ships put fishing nets in waters in and out of the shoal.
On Friday, a spokesman for the Chinese coast guard said two small Philippine boats were launched by the warship "illegally stranded" at China's Ren'ai Jiao.
He said those boats approached CCG vessels in an unprofessional and hazardous manner.
The spokesman added CCG vessels were engaged in routine law enforcement operations and the necessary measures they took to regulate the Philippine boats were fully justified and lawful.
