A large-scale exhibition is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Chief Executive John Lee called on the public to learn from history and safeguard national security.

Chief Executive John Lee and Zhou Ji Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong attended the opening ceremony.

Featuring historical items and nearly 570 historical photographs, the war anniversary expo comprises four zones.

Chief Executive John Lee said the victory 80 years ago marked the turning point when China's rejuvenation began.

He called on the public to always remember the battlefield history and guard against foreign aggression and hegemony.

Zhou Ji noted that the commemoration of history is not aimed at perpetuating hatred but cherishing love and peace.

Some exhibition-goers feel honoured by the history.

Mr. Tsang said, "I feel proud to be Chinese. After such kind of suffering, we empower ourselves to a lot of great things, such as technological advancement."

The exhibition will run until next Friday in the Convention and Exhibition Centre, then it will be brought to Hong Kong's 18 districts and various schools.
