The pilot scheme for special allowances for transitional housing residents will be extended for two years until 2027.

Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho said on her social media page that considering most of the transitional housing will continue to operate in the next few years, and some 2,700 units will be completed within these two years, the special allowance pilot scheme will be extended for two more years to provide one-off special subsidies for new residents of Categories A and B of transitional housing. That's for relocation purposes and the purchase of furniture and electrical appliances.

The amount of the subsidy has also been adjusted. That's up from a range of 1,800 dollars to 11,550 dollars -- to a range of 1,950 dollars to 13,000 dollars, depending on the location of the project and the applicants' family size.

As of the end of last month, more than 10,000 households have applied for the scheme, benefiting about 18,000 people.
