An area of low pressure currently located in the waters east of the Philippines will move towards Luzon in the next day or two.

The Hong Kong Observatory says it's uncertain if the weather system will impact Hong Kong.

With the anticyclone aloft Hong Kong, the weather is more stable today.

However, the observatory says an area of low pressure will pass through the central and northern parts of the South China Sea and generally move towards Hainan Island and its southern waters.

According to HKO's predictions based on various AI models, after the low pressure area enters the South China Sea, it's more likely to pass 400 kilometres away from Hong Kong, but the wind intensity predictions vary among the models.

The observatory predicts the weather will gradually become unstable later on Saturday, with a few squally showers on Sunday and early next week.
