Samples of pig intestines at a noodle chain restaurant in Lam Tin were detected to exceed standards by more than 40 times. Authorities have ordered the eatery to suspend the sale of pig intestines there.
The Centre for Food Safety took samples of raw pig intestines for testing from the Tam Jai Yunnan Noodles restaurant at Lam Tin Shopping Mall. It found that the samples contained 4.5 million Bacillus cereus per gram.
According to the Centre for Food Safety, excessive consumption of Bacillus cereus may cause gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhoea and vomiting.
