European leaders will join Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his trip to the White House to meet U.S. President Donald Trump.

This after Trump said that Ukraine should make a deal to
end the war with Russia because
"Russia is a very big power, and they're not."

After his summit in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin
failed to secure a ceasefire agreement, with Putin saying he wants all of the eastern province of Donetsk for the war to end.

Zelenskyy rejected these conditions.

Flying back to Washington, Trump was already thinking about what he would say to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The two leaders are due to meet on Monday at the White House,
six months after Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance dressed down Zelenskyy in public.

Trump was unable to secure a ceasefire deal with Putin, and now wants to go full peace and end the war.

After calls with Zelenskyy and European leaders, Trump wrote on social media that the best way to end the war was to go directly to a peace agreement, and not a mere ceasefire. For that, as he told Fox News's Sean Hannity, Ukraine must make concessions.

Sean Hannity asked, "Based on today, when you talk to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, what's your advice?"

U.S. President DONALD TRUMP said, "Make a deal."

Hannity said, "Make the deal?"

TRUMP said, "Got to make a deal, yeah."

Zelenskyy visited the European Union headquarters in Brussels on Sunday ahead of Monday's Washington summit.

He met with Ursula von der Leyen,
President of the European Commission, who announced that
European and NATO leaders will join the summit.

Von der Leyen posted on X that she will join Zelenskyy and other European leaders in the White House.

Ukrainian President VOLODYMYR ZELENSKYY said, "It is crucial that Europe is as united now as it was at the very beginning, as it was in 2022, when the full scale war began. This unity really helps to reach real peace, and it must stay strong because we have to stop the killings. Putin has many demands, but we do not know all of them.
And if there are really as many as we heard, then it will take time to go through them all."

Also on the trip is German Chancellor Friedrich Merz,
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, among others.

Starmer on Sunday was hosting a meeting of allies to bolster Zelenskyy's position.

Merz said it was important the European leaders remain united
in their stance regarding Ukraine,
and offer advice to Zelenskyy on the steps he should take and what Ukraine should be prepared to do.

On his return to Moscow, Putin told top Russian officials that his conversation with Trump was frank, informative and brings them closer to the necessary solutions.

He said he respected the Americans' efforts to end the conflict but it can only be done by addressing the root causes of the war.

Putin said when he invaded Ukraine in February, 2022 that he was protecting the Russian-speaking population in the eastern provinces.
