Chief Executive John Lee says the government has so far received more than 6,900 submissions in its public consultation for this year's annual policy address.
That's 10 percent more than last year.
Lee says he will study the opinions carefully.
In a video posted on social media, the chief executive said with the protection offered by the Hong Kong National Security Law and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, residents can now safely express their patriotism in public without fear of being beaten up or doxxed, just like a few years ago.
Lee also noted the promotion of national education was mentioned in his two previous policy addresses.
He said the government will continue to integrate national education into the daily teaching and learning at schools so as to cultivate in students a sense of nationhood and national identity.
