Hong Kong has so far recorded nine imported cases of Chikungunya fever and the number of imported cases continued to increase.
Secretary for the Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan expects that imported cases will continue to increase, and local cases cannot be ruled out.
He said the government will continue to strengthen mosquito control measures.
Tse said the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will actively conduct mosquito control measures in collaboration with other departments.
He said the Housing Department is carrying out such work in public housing estates, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department is doing so at its premises, and other departments such as the Highways Department and the Drainage Services Department are also involved.
