Apprentice died after being pinned against wall at MTR depot

A 20-year-old MTR apprentice died on Friday after being hit by a railway motor car at Siu Ho Wan Depot.
The accident happened at around noon on Friday. After initial investigation, police said the 20-year-old male apprentice was walking past the last carriage of the motor car when it suddenly slipped backwards.
The man was pinned between a wall and the carriage and suffered serious leg and stomach injuries. His colleagues attempted to save him but was unsuccessful.
The man was sent to Queen Mary hospital and later pronounced dead.
MTR said the deceased had joined the company in September last year.
Speaking to the media, MTR expressed its deepest condolences to the apprentice's family, and would provide the most suitable support.
MTR said the company is investigating the cause of the accident and are gathering evidence from different channels, including nearby CCTV.
