The world's first Humanoid Robot Games kicked off in Beijing today, showcasing the intelligence and movement of robots.

Apart from sports events, robots are also competing in tasks such as sorting medicines and cleaning.

The three-day event features 280 teams from 16 countries, including China, Japan, the U.S.

A 1,500-metre running event was held on the first day of the games, as robots competed by running at full speed.

Some humanoids crashed into each other during a football match, while others needed treatment.

Meanwhile, robots also performed various practical jobs, such as factory work, cleaning, sorting medicine and welcoming hotel guests.

Tickets for the games ranged from 180 to 580 yuan, which many spectators think is well worth it.
