Public housing waiting time lowered to 5.1 years

The government announced the latest composite public housing waiting time is 5.1 years.
The previous waiting time was 5.3 years.
On Thursday, the Housing Bureau said the waiting time for subsidised rental housing has decreased by a year -- from 6.1 to 5.1 -- since the current administration took office.
The bureau said about 4,900 applicants were housed in public rental housing or light public housing in the second quarter of this year.
The government added that the waiting time will continue to decline in the future after the completion of several housing projects.
