A Japanese singer and actor was found guilty of indecent assault against a Hong Kong translator in the city. The 25-year-old was fined 15,000 dollars.
Kenshin Kamimura, a former member of Japanese boy band ONE N'ONLY previously pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court heard that Kamimura allegedly touched the female interpreter's thigh repeatedly and invited her to the restroom via a translation app during a celebratory dinner in Mong Kok in early March.
The woman dismissed his invitation and wanted to leave but Kamimura kept following her.
The judge says the Japanese idol was a key figure at the dinner while the victim was merely a translator making it understandable that she felt scared to leave her seat.
Noting that the defendant's caressing touch constitutes an indecent intent, the judge handed down a guilty verdict.
