The Department of Health is investigating an incident involving a private doctor who administered COVID vaccines beyond the recommended use date to seven residents of a care home for persons with disabilities.
The department says that on May 22nd, the doctor in question inoculated them with Moderna's
Spikevax JN.1 COVID-19 vaccines at Hong Chi Fanling Integrative Rehabilitation Complex.
While the vaccine has not expired its expiry date, the jabs should have been thawed, stored at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and used within 30 days, according to the vaccine manufacturer's recommendation.
Authorities say they are highly concerned about the incident.
None of the residents involved have any adverse conditions.
The doctor concerned has been suspended from his services under the vaccination programme.
