A survey conducted by an organisation found that the majority of homeless people and subdivided flat residents do not use government temporary cooling centres.

From June to July this year, Greenpeace surveyed 97 people, including homeless individuals and subdivided flat residents, and found about 65 of respondents said they had never used the government's temporary centres to seek refuge from the summer heat.

That's mainly because of the inconvenient locations. Some said they did not know such centres existed, believing the government's information dissemination was insufficient.

The survey also found that these facilities in the Yau Tsim Mong, Sham Shui Po and Wong Tai Sin districts do not adequately cover areas with higher concentrations of low-income residents.

Greenpeace recommends the government to reconsider the facilities' locations to boost the willingness of vulnerable groups to use the centres.
